Bringing home a new puppy is super exciting and a wonderful time to capture some fabulous photographs whilst they are still so tiny and sleepy. From birth up to 3 months of age, puppies will usually spend up to 22 hours sleeping. After that first 3 months, they will have more energy to walk around and explore but still sleep for most of the day, by six-months your puppy is an adolescent and he will have an increase in energy and wilfulness. The sooner you can book your puppy in for photographs the better if you want to capture that tiny puppy stage.
I offer Pet Photography in my Portfolio which potentially can cover any pet which is suitable to travel and be safe in a studio environment. Last week I had the pleasure and excitement of photographing two stunning birds of prey, a Saker Falcon and a Harris Hawk. Both arrived in their travel boxes and were taken out one at a time. The handler kept the birds on a leash attached to either his glove or a perch so that there was no risk of flying and damaging their wings. I took a whole series of beautiful photographs which I then edited into a Fine Art style. Here are a few.
Note: When I have pets in the studio all soft furnishings are removed, and things that cannot be removed are covered fully with waterproof coverings to protect them. After a pet session the studio floor is fully steam cleaned to ensure it is perfect fro my next client. Safety and hygiene are my number one priorities.
Sussex Photographic Federation Championships 2018
The Championships are assessed by three judges, in common with most regional and national events. The Championships were judged by:
There were 180 images submitted representing the best of the best from each affiliated Photography Society and Club across Sussex. This year, 2018, I won the Bronze award for my Fine Art Portrait entitled ‘Phoebe’.
I have a NEW SESSION available called 'Back To School' . This is a wonderful way to capture the 'Back to School' milestone, whether it is for their first day at school, or the first day in a new form. Each edit is personalised to make is super special and memorable.
My aim is to create beautiful photographs during your Newborn Session that you will treasure forever. To do this I always invite parents to bring along any special items to the shoot. They are often items like a beautiful blanket that Nanny has crocheted, or an old teddy which was once Mummy's favourite. Sometimes the items can be larger, like this stunning 'toy' car that Mummy and Daddy bought for his nursery. These extra special elements make the Newborn Session unique and personal to that family.
As a Newborn Photographer it is important to always be producing new and creative images. One of the ways I do this is by introducing new props. My latest prop is an absolutely adorable hand made 'hot air balloon' . This prop is so versatile as it is a perfect for little boys or girls as I've used neutral colours and looks fabulous with any number of different coloured backdrops. The hot air balloon can be personalised with that crocheted blanket or hat knitted by Nanna, or with the beautiful soft toy gift too.
This gorgeous little boy was 10 days old when his Mummy and Daddy brought him in for his newborn photo shoot. As you can see I just had to have a cuddle, I couldn't resist. This little mans parents were just so lovely and relaxed as this is not their first baby, so even though he was insisting on trying to stay awake to watch the goings on, and didn't really want to curl up as much as newborn babies do in the first week, we still had fun and I got some beautiful photographs for his Mummy and Daddy to treasure forever.
